What do you think when you think about Makeup?
What are your thoughts and beliefs around it all?
There is a good chance you have never taken the time to consider these things or the impact they are having on your Makeup abilities.
What I am about to share with you is possibly a little controversial. However, I feel it is going to give you a deeper insight and allow you to explore a new idea.
I have had the opportunity to work with thousands of women and some common themes I have seen in my 7 years of applying and teaching makeup is The beliefs women hold around makeup, what it is, what it does for you and how it makes you feel.
And all of this Determine your capacity to enjoy all the benefits of wearing and playing with makeup.
The thing is your beliefs around makeup are not based on the now they are based on what you were told and taught about makeup and beauty growing up.
The key 3 things I hear and have seen over my years are……
1. Makeup is for vain people who love themselves too much and seek out the wrong attention
2. You shouldn’t need makeup to feel or look beautiful
3. You are either good at being “girly” or not
Essential what we have here are common stories, ingrained into us from a young age when we don’t have a need or desire for makeup and beauty.
These lie dormant in our subconscious until comes a time in our lives where we do want to wear makeup.
For whatever reason, that might be for, fun, work, social pressure, self-expression the list goes on.
what we don’t realize is we have carried the beliefs unknowingly into our adult life.
So we want or need to wear makeup but yet we hold negative beliefs around the idea of wearing makeup, there are many layers to this that I would like to share and explore with you but for now, the message I want to get across is you can have a need or a want to apply makeup, and you can have really shitty emotions attached to that which affect the way you look and feel about wearing makeup and the level of importance you put on it as a valuable life tool and skill set.
If we can allow ourselves to accept makeup as a positive and uplifting tool in our life on a subconscious level, not a negative must do you can create a space for yourself where we will feel empowered by your femininity guilt-free.
Like Marilyn Monroe put it, “I’m very definitely a woman and I enjoy it.”
When she said this, she was talking about accepting and loving yourself for all that you are and embracing ones fermentative and enjoining it.
